Virtual Reality (a note to DD, who’s 8)

(Will scrapbook this, but thought we could all probably relate…)

You are an electronic kid. I guess that’s to be expected with parents who rely on computers, cell phones, and mp3 players on a daily basis. You’ve got more DVDs than I’ve probably ever seen movies. You’ve got your own folder of games on the computer, and three internet kids’ sites you frequent.

But dear girl, don’t think for a minute that these virtual worlds are real. They may be fun, but nothing digital could ever replace actual reality. Nothing is better than hearing music at a live concert, or watching a play on stage. Life isn’t like the movies either. Of course, we want you to grow up happy and one day find your “prince”. But life is no fairy tale.

Actual reality is faith, love, and family. No matter what life throws your way, these truths will remain. Wherever you go, no matter how old you are, we will always be there for you.

After all, we’ll only be a text message or email away.
